Memory Quilts
How is a "Memory" Quilt Different?
We like to define our Memory Quilts as those quilts we make from clothing of our loved ones who have passed away to celebrate their special memory. These quilts are a legacy for ourselves and our families. It's a special way to wrap ourselves (literally) in the warmth of our love for them and theirs for us! (That's why we sometimes call them Legacy Quilts, too.)
Memory quilts are really special for Cathy and Sara to make. They get to experience a little bit of the person who has passed and a whole lot of love from the people who commission these quilts to be made. Cathy and Sara truly believe it is a rare privilege to be a part of the grieving process and provide a little bit of comfort to those involved.
Bring in t-shirts, dress shirts, pants, any clothing or fabric related to your loved one. We can also print off photos directly onto fabric, the possibilities are endless to create a beautiful memoir.

Pricing is determined by size, complexity of design, difficulty of materials, and the quilting wanted on your memory quilt. It will be determined in consultation with you.
These four quilts were made for four sisters who lost their father. Each quilt has the same design and their dad's shirts but different complementary colours were used for each of the girls to make the quilts truly theirs.
T-Shirt Quilts
"Been there, Done that, Got the T-Shirt" but now what?
One other kind of a Memory Quilts is the T-Shirt Quilt. Vacation shirts, Concert tees, Sports teams, whatever you have stacked in your closet. It's a great way to preserve those memories, especially if the shirts don't fit as well anymore (it happens to all of us) or have been well loved.
Some other materials we have included are jerseys, dance costumes, shorts, dress shirts, wedding suits, uniforms, pajamas, jeans, baseball caps, even a toque!
You collect materials from the past - these could be baby clothes or Dad's favourite ties or even a quilt you loved as a kid. We take these materials, add a few to complement them, and create a quilt that is a 'memory' of the past - whether honouring a special person or expressing pride in your kids' accomplishments, celebrating special memories or the most fun vacation- it's your legacy to create!

Memory Mittens
Also have sweaters? Make them into mittens instead! If you have wool, fleece, or acrylic sweaters, Joy Wiebe can sew them into mittens for $50/pair. Each pair can have multiple sweaters incorporated, with each pair unique from each other. Every sweater has enough for more than one pair, so with a few sweaters, you can make mittens for the whole family!
